Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has tasked his rival, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate William Ruto to take the wheelbarrows he has been promising Kenyans to Sugoi.

Speaking in Ruiru where he is meeting leaders from all wards in Kiambu county, Odinga reiterated that Kenyans are educated and should be to be accorded decent jobs for a quality life.

Odinga stressed that Kenyans are living in a digital era and have learnt the modernized ways of doing things, noting that giving people old tools of work was tantamount to dragging them back to the old days.

“Take your wheelbarrow to Sugoi, Kiambu residents are civilised and modernized. They’re learned and do not need it in their operations. What will a learned Kiambu resident do with a wheelbarrow?” Odinga quipped.

Raila to transform Kiambu

The Azimio la Umoja presidential hopeful promised to transform Kiambu County in key areas among them infrastructure, agriculture, health and education to ensure residents live the kind of lives envisioned by the founders of the country.

“My administration will provide affordable loans with a grace period of seven years. This will help entrepreneurs start income-generating activities with ease and without being troubled on repayment, ” he promised.

“We will also put up industries to create jobs for youth and women to give our people decent living besides revolutionizing agriculture in the county by availing water for irrigation and for domestic use,” he added.

From next year, Odinga said his government will ensure that Kiambu and Kenyan learners at large will enjoy free Secondary and Primary education while university graduates will get quality jobs to support themselves and their families.

Odinga is touring President Uhuru Kenyatta’s home turf in an effort to galvanise support in a vote-rich region termed a battlefield between him and his fiercest rival William Ruto.

He will among other areas be touring Ruiru, Githurai, Kabete, Githunguri with a major rally at Gatundu town in the evening.
