Sibling rivalry plays out in DP Western tour

Infighting and rivalries among political candidates allied to the Kenya Kwanza Coalition reared their ugly head during Deputy President William Ruto’s campaigns in Kakamega county, yesterday.

The DP and his entourage also bumped into some hostile crowds in Ikolomani and in the neighbouring Vihiga county where youths  confronted him over his comments touching on Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa in Trans Nzoia on Tuesday.

An agitated Ruto took a swipe at some youths who chanted “Mbona ulitusi Wamalwa?!” (Why did you insult Wamalwa?!”).  “Wewe Wacha kelele. Toka kwa huu mkutano (Stop making noise and leave this meeting),” he told the youths who, however, stayed put.

Ruto kicked off his campaigns at Sabane grounds in Idakho East Ward of Ikolomani and was received by Kakamega Senator  Cleophas Malalah who is the ANC governorship candidate.

While speaking at Sabane, Ruto reiterated that his “bottoms-up” economic model was the best and “could heal the country from economic suppression”. Later in Nyamira, Ruto asked residents to  reject Raila, saying he had no track record for development.
