State House race: Ruto returns to Western for votes

Kenya Kwanza alliance presidential candidate William Ruto is set to tour three counties on Friday, July 29, as political campaigns enter the home stretch.

In a programme seen by People Daily Digital, the DP is expected in Nandi before heading to the Western region where he will address several rallies in Busia and Bungoma counties.

The Kenya Kwanza team will kick off their rallies in Kapsabet (Nandi) before proceeding to Busia town in Matayos Constituency at noon.

In the afternoon, Ruto will take the hustler politics to Posta Grounds in Kanduyi Constituency, Bungoma County, where he will be joined by the local leadership in the last-minute attempt to woo the electorate ahead of the August politics.

Ruto’s tour of the Western region comes a day after a series of rallies in Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi counties.

The DP’s Azimio One Kenya coalition rival Raila Odinga is on Friday set to pitch camp in Machakos County.

The Azimio leader will kick off his tour Machakos Golf Club where he will meet the clergy.

He will then address a mega rally at 2 pm at Kenyatta Stadium.

On his way back to Nairobi, he will address an open rally in the Mlolongo centre at 5 pm.

Raila’s visit to the county comes a day after the Infotrak Research poll placed him in the lead against his closest challenger, William Ruto.

According to the poll, Raila is enjoying 62 per cent popularity against Ruto’s 21 per cent.
