State House race: Raila maintains he will not attend presidential debate, campaigns in Meru

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has moved to Meru county to intensify his campaigns after maintaining that he will not be attending the presidential debate.

He will be flanked by his running mate Martha Karua and other leaders allied to the coalition.

The former prime minister is expected to hold a similar exercise with his running mate at Jericho social hall in Nairobi Eastlands.

Raila on Sunday, July 24, 2022, announced that he will not be attending the presidential debate set for today, Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

In a statement released by the Spokesperson of his Presidential Campaign Secretariat Prof Makau Mutua, Raila stated that a traditional debate structure with opposing candidates was a bad idea this year.

“In lieu of a traditional debate, we plan to take part in a televised town hall at Jericho social hall in Nairobi Eastlands with ordinary Kenyans to offer our solutions to challenges facing the country and common people,” the statement read.
