Raila hits out at Ruto over outbursts, says unfit to hold office
Azimio-One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga says Deputy President William Ruto is unfit to hold office over his continued display of anger towards the public and public officers.8
Raila accused Ruto of making wreckless utterances against Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa on Tuesday in his western campaigns tour.
Speaking at Samburu town, Kinango constituency in Kwale county, the former premier said the anger that Ruto has kept on displaying to Kenyans shows that he was unfit to lead the country. “This man is frustrated and very angry that is why he keeps on making wreckless utterances and insults to public officers. Do not elect him.”
Raila also said that despite Ruto making in inroads in Kwale and Coast region, he still believes they are his strongholds and he will grab most of the votes.
“Even with him visiting the Coast region after every two weeks that will not change anything come August 9th during the general election. I know the people of Coast are always behind me and they will always support me,” he said.
Raila, however, urged the locals to back his presidential bid so that he can assist them solve the land problems they have been going through since independence.
“When I take over office as the next president all the land issues that are faced by the coastal people will be solved. The squatters be settled and the historical injustices will be no more,” he said.
Public officers
His running mate Martha Karua also urged the locals to vote for Raila who has a vision for Kenyans.
“In our first 100 days in office, we assure you that we will stabilise the economy for Kenyans and lower the food prices,” Karua said.
She added that Ruto is not a good leader and will cause more harm to Kenyan as already he has a bad reputation of corruption.
Mombasa governor Hassan Joho also said that Ruto should stop insulting public officers and leave them out of his campaigns.
Joho also accused Kwale governor Salim Mvurya of misleading Kwale residents for his own selfish interests. “Your governor is misleading you, do not accept to be misled stick to Raila just like you did in 2013 and 2017,” Joho said.
Suna East MP Junet Mohammed stated that Ruto is frustrated by the daily opinion polls conducted by Infortrak and Tifa which show Raila leading.
And speaking in Kiambu county, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka accused Kenya Kwanza Presidential candidate William Ruto of being disrespectful, dishonest and short tempered and, therefore, incapable of leading the country.
“Some people say President Uhuru Kenyatta gets angry, but his Deputy has the worst temper and has no respect for authority. I was Vice President to Kibaki and could not dare differ with my boss, at that level of leadership it is unthinkable,” he charged.
Leading an Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance campaign in Thika, Kiambu county where he drummed up support for Raila and Karua among Diaspora communities in the area, he criticized Ruto for using taxpayers’ money to attack the President.
