Willis Otieno wants Chebukati charged with criminal case
By evans.maritim, August 31, 2022Lawyer Willis Otieno, who is representing three activists in the ongoing presidential petition case at the Supreme Court, wants Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati charged with a criminal case for “bungling” the August 9 general election.
Otieno said the IEBC boss has presided over two elections (in 2017 and 2022) that have been questioned and integrity issues raised.
“We cannot be coming back to you (Supreme Court) every election with the same problem involving the same person.
“It is time that Mr.Chebukati is shown that the will of the people of Kenya is supreme and he must work within the constitution and the decisions by this court and that is why we are calling for criminal sanctions,” he said.
Otieno wants DPP to take action against Chebukati
Otieno said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) should take action against Chebukati for causing “suffering” among Kenyans every election time.
The advocate is representing petitioners Mr. Khalif, Mr. Osewe, Ms. Mumbi, and Ms. Kamau in the ongoing presidential election petition at the Supreme Court.
