Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has called out the Inspector-General of police Hilary Mutyambai for allegedly practising favouritism in the Kiambu gubernatorial race.

The Kiambu governor’s race has pitted political heavyweights; Kuria of Chama Cha Kazi, Kimani Wamatangi of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), incumbent Governor James Nyoro of the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition and former Governor William Kabogo of the Tujibebe party.

Both Kuria and Wamatangi are in the Kenya Kwanza alliance. Kabogo too used to be allied to Deputy William Ruto before walked away over supremacy battles with his competitors in the same camp.

Kabogo, Kuria and Wamatangi are embroiled in a standoff over who is politically mightier than the other in their bid to unseat Governor James Nyoro of the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition.

Moses Kuria claims IG favours Wamatangi

The Gatundu South MP on July 30, 2022, made serious accusations against the Inspector-General of police Hilary Mutyambai whom he claims favours the UDA candidate in Kiambu governor’s seat.

Kuria claims that Mutyambai is providing Wamatangi with more security personnel than he needs while he is ‘fearing’ for his life because he is allegedly being threatened by the head of state.

“Dear IG Mutyambai, while your boss Uhuru Kenyatta is busy threatening my life, you are providing police in Uniforms in 3 land rovers under the command of an OCS to my competitor Kimani wa Matangi for all his meetings. It happened on Wednesday in Mungere in Lari and yesterday in Ngegu, Kiambu Town. Not even Governor James Nyoro is getting this level of security. Treat us all equally and more so those of us whose lives are in danger after Uhuru Kenyatta’s threats,” Kuria wrote on Facebook.
