Make a covenant at the ballot, urges Muheria

The Inter-Faith Council chairperson, Archbishop Anthony Muheria, yesterday urged Kenyans to come out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right to vote today.

He said voting is the best bet that Kenyans have for the future and is also a step in bringing the youth agenda on the table.

“Go and make a covenant with our nation for generations that will come. It is a day of joy, a day we should actually celebrate. I would almost tell Kenyans to dress up for the vote. It is an important day that you and your grandchildren will remember. This time it looks like we will do it right,” said Muheria in a televised interview.

The Archbishop urged IEBC to do their very best. “The poll is not only about peace but also about credibility. We want to evaluate IEBC as the best electoral body, not only in Africa but in the world,” he said.

“For the undecided voter, this is not about you, it’s about your generations, it is a building block for the Kenya we desire,” he said. “We must guard against transforming anxiety into desperation — where we lose control and start making declarations.”
