Linet Chepkorir of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has clinched the Bomet Woman Representative seat, flooring eight opponents in Tuesday’s polls.

The 24-year-old popularly known as ‘Toto’ garnered 242,776 votes, flooring Alice Milgo of Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) who got 43,180 votes.

Chepkorir is one of the youngest politicians elected to various positions in Tuesday’s polls.

Speaking after receiving her certificate, Chepkorir said she is ready to take up the task and deliver despite some people despising her on the basis of her age.

” I have won and my decision to join politics won’t be affected by some who look down on me because of my age and size”, an elated Chepkorir said after her victory.

As a first-timer, Chepkorir urged the youth to pursue their political interests without fear.

“My leadership will show the ability youths have and I believe that in the next election people will vote for youths,” she added.

The Woman Rep-elect shot into the limelight after defying the odds to win the UDA party ticket in the party primaries conducted in April.

She garnered 53,934 votes, followed by Eunice Benson 27,711, Stacey Chepkemoi 26,808, Beatrice Tonui 20,495, Cecilia Mutai 16,644, Susan Koech 12,410 and Brenda Chepngetich 11,901.
