Lee Kinyajui decries election fraud after losing Nakuru gubernatorial seat

Outgoing Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui has rejected the recently announced results in the Nakuru gubernatorial race where his close competitor Susan Kihika was declared the winner.

Lee refused to concede, attributing his defeat to ‘fraud and manipulation of the election process’.

He said the exercise was marred with irregularities, bribery, violence and locking out of their agents in various polling stations.

5 issues raised by Lee Kinyanjui after failing to concede

Kinyanjui raised several electoral malpractices including;

• An unnatural pattern in how voters voted in as per their respective streams.
• Inconsistencies in the different County seats which mathematically depict voting fraud
• Massive and rampant instances where Agents were denied access to polling stations
• Low voter turnout across the county yet tallied results depicted high numbers of voters
• Voter bribery and widespread violence especially in Nakuru Town East affected voters from turning up.

He noted that he’s currently consulting his legal team on the way forward.

Nakuru race was among the most closely watched races in the country, pitting two front runners; the Azimio-endorsed Lee Kinyanjui against a UDA-backed Susan Kihika.

Others who were seeking to unseat Kinyanjui are Dr Stanley Karanja, economist Elijah Chege, former senator James Mungai and Munyua Waiyaki. The quartet were all independent candidates.
