Kisumu: Nyong’o handily defeats former governor Ranguma

By , August 12, 2022

Incumbent Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o secured a decisive victory against his predecessor Jack Ranguma who was seeking a comeback.

Nyong’o, who vied on the ODM ticket, was re-elected Kisumu governor after garnering 319,957 votes against his predecessor Ranguma who managed 100,600 votes – a difference of 219,357 votes.

Ranguma’s efforts to recapture the Kisumu governor seat from his successor proved futile as he trailed Nyong’o from the moment vote tallying started.

Nyongo’s celebrity daughter Lupita congratulated her dad as early as Wednesday, August 10, 2022, when it became certain that the incumbent would be re-elected given the margin he was winning with.

“ABICH MORO! Congratulations to my Daddy and THANK YOU to the people of Kisumu for their overwhelming support at the polls. @AnyangNyongo #5moro #TichTire,” Lupita Nyong’o tweeted.
