Moses Kuria: Kenya Kwanza will not participate in presidential debates
By evans.maritim, July 16, 2022Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria now says Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua will not participate in the planned presidential debates.
The two debates are scheduled for Tuesday, July 19 for running mates and Tuesday, July 26 for presidential candidates.
Kuria said Kenyan media houses have been biased against Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Kuria cites media biasness
“The Zubeida Koome ‘is your name Sakaja?’ Quip is a clear indicator of the media bias that Kenya Kwanza has been complaining of.
“The Kenya Kwanza Alliance will not participate in both the Running Mate debate and the Presidential Debate and that is final,” Kuria wrote on his Facebook page.
According to organisers of the debate, the format will see Gachagua and Martha Karua face off in the second tier as Justin Mae and Ruth Mutua battle it out in the first-tier debate.

“The first tier will feature Deputy Presidential candidates whose popularity ratings, based on three recent opinion polls, stand below 5%, while the second tier will involve candidates who have polled above 5% in the same opinion survey,” the statement read in part.
The format of the debate featuring presidential candidates is yet to be unveiled.
