Hundreds of jubilant Kisumu residents blocked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and demanded him to address them in his first visit to the region since they won the presidential elections.

The crowd had camped outside the main gate of Kisumu Girls High School where Gachagua was officiating the Gala edition of the 94th Kenya Music Festival extravaganza for over 2 hours.

Chants of ” Gachagua” rent the air as soon as he finished the meeting and was on his way to the Kisumu International Airport.

The Deputy President was forced to address the jubilant crowd and promised them that he would come back.

Gachagua said, “Harambee…mko ngangari? Nimeleta salamu ya Rais William Ruto na nitamleta huku Kisumu hivi karibuni,” (I want to pass regards of our President William Ruto and I want to promise you that I will bring him to this region soon)

Earlier, Gachagua thrilled the audience at the Gala when he joined some performers for a dance.

The audience cheered as the second-in-command showcased his dance skills.

Kisumu town is the political bedrock of the Azimio presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga who lost to immediate former DP William Ruto in the last election.
