Duale retains Garissa Township seat
Former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has been re-elected as the Garissa Township MP. Duale garnered 9,905 votes beating Orange Democratic Movement party’s candidate Nasir Dolal.
The orange party candidate managed 5, 972 votes. UPA’s candidate Abdulahi Mohamed came third with 5, 529 votes.
The vocal lawmaker took to his social media platforms to express gratitude to his constituents for handing him a fourth term in parliament.
Duale invited his competitors to join hands with him as he sets out on a journey of delivering on his campaign promises.
“I want to, in a very special way, thank the people of Garissa Township who have believed in me for the past three and this fourth election, making our, ‘Ishirini bila Break’ mantra a reality. Thank you!
“For our competitors, this was a friendly match. We played clean issue-based and policy-driven politics. We remain friends and residents of Garissa Township. From a clean heart, our team extends an invitation to our opponents to join us in sharing ideas that will make Garissa the apple of the Northern eye.Let our ‘Uninterrupted Twenty’ be remembered as a period of empowerment and development,” he posted.
