Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his entourage have this Sunday been barred from attending scheduled church service at AIC Kitengela and AIC Kasina Mlolongo over what the church management said were threats by unnamed government agents who warned them of dire consequences if they host the opposition team.
Kalonzo who was accompanied by Jimmy Wanjigi, Jeremiah Kioni, Eugene Wamalwa among other leaders were forced to convene at a hotel in Kitengela where they announced the cancellation of scheduled Kitengela and Mlolongo rally public over safety issues before attending a church service at Glorious Church, Kitengela.
Kalonzo said he and his team were being denied freedom of worship warning that President William Ruto is misusing police officers to silence anti-government voices.
“The leadership of the church we were to attend has been threatened. The government is now even denying us freedom of worship,” said Kalonzo.
Addressing the media shortly before attending the church service, the Wiper leader maintained that the Ruto administration stands impeached. “Ruto administration stands impeached. Gen Z already deliberated this country. Ruto cannot escape blame for the police brutality and killings. It will come to haunt him.”
Diversionary tactics
Kalonzo said the Ministry of Interior should bear the burden of strict proof of illegal police killings and abductions instead of using diversionary tactics to escape the reality of a failed regime.
He said the government has a responsibility to produce the unaccounted 131 missing persons alive or dead saying human rights are universal and supersede boundaries.
“The two brothers are currently under humanitarian custody because they fear for their safety. Police should stand ashamed for accepting to be reduced to abductions and killed squads terrorizing Kenyans using Subarus. I want to condemn with the strong terms possible the animosity being meted out to innocent Kenyans while they are fighting for their right and justice. We cannot and we will not condone a killer administration,” Kalonzo added.
Funding protests
Kalonzo also waded into the issue of Ruto blaming the Ford Foundation for funding anti-government protests and retreating his statement saying it was a red flag of how the president is evading the harsh reality of his poor leadership and careless utterances.
DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa said police brutality has become an international concern. He said the alternative government team is pursuing international avenues to seek justice over police brutality and abductions because Kenya’s courts have been compromised and frustrated by ruthless government machinery.
“Abuse of human rights during the Ruto regime has become unprecedented. Our courts who should be independent are frustrated by the same government that ought to allow the freedom of serving justice. In this regard our legal team will pursue justice for innocent loss of lives beyond our borders,” said Eugene.
Jubilee SG Jeremiah Kioni said Ruto has achieved creating disorder and confusion in the country to the chagrin of suffering Kenyans. “Ruto must go. Kenyans cannot take any more disorders that Ruto is creating every day,” added Kioni.
Wanjigi said Ruto wants him dead and has been threatening him through his killer squad. He said in the last 27 days his Muthaiga home has been out of mobile network and TV signals as a way to intimidate him.
Wanjigi said on Sunday morning he found a pool of blood spilt at the entrance of his home as a warning but remains adamant he will not be cowardly to stop fighting Ruto atrocities. “Ruto should know I will not be intimidated or cowardly by the childish tactics he is using on me. The only person who wants me dead is Ruto.”
Others present included Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu, Kajiado East MP Kakuta Maimai, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Kajiado Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho.
