AFC Leopards managed a 3-0 win over Talanta FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Dandora Stadium on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

This is a back-to-back win for Ingwe in the league, although they were not as sharp as they should have been in the first half against Talanta.

They waited until the 56th minute for them to get the opening goal when Emmanuel Lwangu scored. Brian Wanyama delivered a superb cross for Lwangu to score his first goal for the giants.

Arthur Gitego scored the second goal three minutes after the half-hour mark. The Rwandan headed in to double AFC Leopards’ advantage against the struggling Talanta.

The third goal was scored by experienced forward Kevin Kimani, who found the back of the net after coming on as a substitute. Randy Bakari played a critical role in the build up to the second goal as he provided a cutback that Kimani just needed a slight connection to drive the ball home.

With 44 points, Ingwe are now sixth, and their exemplary outing in the second round of the Premier League has ensured they are out and far away from the relegation zone after spending time there for most parts of the initial round.

On the other hand, Talanta, who have suffered a third straight defeat, are 14th with 30 points. More losses will see them get into the relegation dogfight that has so far involved Sofapaka, Muhoroni Youth, and Nzoia Sugar.

Okello lift Police

Meanwhile, Tito Okello scored a brace against Nairobi City Stars to help Kenya Police get a 2-1 victory at Police Sacco in South C.

The South Sudan striker scored in the seventh and 30th minutes to hand the cops a comfortable lead before Samuel Kapen denied them a clean sheet with a goal minutes later.

The brace against City Stars mean that Okello and Omala are now level as the Golden Boot race tightens, with Kariobangi Sharks’ John Makwatta making giant strides from behind.
