Police statement reveals how Dennis Itumbi allegedly escaped death in evening shootout

Former State House Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi escaped death by a whisker on Friday evening, according to a police report in our possession.

The report states that Itumbi was on his way to pick dinner at a restaurant in the evening when he spotted a suspiciously parked car prompting him to speed off.

The police statement recorded at Kasarani Police station further explains that the ally of Deputy President William Ruto was forced to first hit the parked car before speeding off. It says he heard gunshots behind that allegedly targetted his Mercedes-Benz car.

Police however say no cartridge was found at the scene. “He heard gunshots being fired towards his motor vehicle as he was trying to flee the scene. He managed to speed off unhurt, later parking his vehicle at Rubis Petrol Station immediately informing his family members who later informed the police,” the police report read in part.

The car, whose bumper was damaged, was later towed to the Kasarani police station,
