Raila speaks after Kalonzo, Mudavadi swear never to partner with him
ODM party leader Raila Odinga has broken his silence over the ongoing talk on possible alliances and formations for the 2022 general elections.
Speaking during a tour of Mombasa on Thursday, June 17, Raila who was flanked by Governor Hassan Joho stated that he is yet to reveal whether he will vie for the presidency next year.
Raila who was launching Cath Lab at the Coast General Hospital used the opportunity to respond to Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi after the two swore never to partner with him.
“Did I say I will I vie? Did I announce that?” Raila paused to the crowd eliciting a myriad of response from the masses.
“Kuna wengine wanasema hawewezi kuniunga mkono. Mimi niliwauliza waniunge mkono? Mimi sijatangaza. Wanaanza kutetemeka. Wanaanza kubwekabweka. Subiri. Mambo bado,” Raila said.
The ODM boss then stated that his main focus is to ensure that the BBI process is successful.
“We are focusing on the issue of BBI. The Courts put BBI on halftime. Reggae has not stopped, it has only gone on halftime,” the former Prime Minister added.
Earlier on Thursday, Kalonzo said that he would rather retire from politics than support Raila.
On the other hand, Musalia accused Raila of not honoring the political commitments of the seemingly defunt NASA coalition.
Musalia who was responding to a statement Raila made at the burial of former MP Kalembe Ndile said NASA was irredeemable.
“There is a serious deficit of trust in the NASA arrangement. In fact, I think it’s irredeemable,” Musalia said.
Speaking during a popularisation tour of ANC party in Mombasa, Musalia said the agreement which brought NASA together in 2017 expired and that any motive to revive the coalition will only serve Raila’s political interests.
