Strong winds from the Indian Ocean have been reported in some parts of Central Kenya Tuesday afternoon. The mets said that the winds emanated from the Indian ocean and would last for a few more hours from 6pm Tuesday.

The winds come a day after the Kenya Meteorological Department advised about rainfall that would be expected in some of the regions where the strange winds blew.

Power outage was also reported after the winds destroyed power lines and other infrastructure. The raging winds also fell trees and advertising billboards.

Kenyans took to social media to share their experiences, some of them hilarious.

Videos shared across different social media platforms also showed raging winds blowing off heavy clouds of dust.

“It has blown off my wig” Said a facebook user who was in Thika town by the time of the winds.

The winds also blew heavy dusts making the sky brown and whirly.
