Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has come out to declare that the working relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President (DP)William Ruto has collapsed.
Speaking during a television interview on Wednesday night, Murkomen stated that despite the once-in-a-while public show of camaraderie, the working relationship between the duo was non-existent.
“What became of Uhuru that today, he can chase Ruto from a house in Mombasa.
He is the same person who has been ordering the arrest of everyone associated with the DP,” Murkomen posed during the JKL live show on Citizen TV.
Murkomen appeared to allude to an incident in January this year when Ruto’s luggage was removed from the DPs’ official residence in Mombasa.
Forced to relocate
Ruto had apparently traveled to the Coastal city to usher in the New Year when the incident reportedly happened.
The DP, according to reports, was forced to relocate to a five-star hotel where he spent the year-ender.
Murkomen also appeared to allude to claims that the DP’s allies were being targeted by both the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
“If I meet the President , I will look at him in the eye and ask him, what is this one simple mistake that washes away all the good things DP Ruto has done for the President since 2002,” posed an emotional Murkomen.
He added: “As a matter of fact, the President is persecuting his deputy and Kenyans are asking, is that the right thing to do.”
Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, who participated in the interview via video conference however cautioned Murkomen against using a language that could joepardise any effort to reconcile the two leaders.
“As my very good friend and your elder, I urge you to exercise restraint and avoid using inflammatory words such as suggesting that the president is suffering from inferiority complex. This will only make things harder,” he advised.
