We’re not using OdiBet kits for campaigns, says Onyango
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nairobi East branch vice chairman George Onyango who is seeking to be the branch’s chairman during the September 19 County polls has refuted claims that members of the current office are using donated OdiBet kits as a campaign tool ahead of elections.
On Tuesday, a Nairobi based lawyer Amos Otieno who is seeking the same position at the polls, claimed that the current office bearers had hidden some of the kits donated by betting firm OdiBets and meant for grass root football, just to start issuing them to the teams now as part of their campaigns.
Speaking to People Sport today, Onyango said his opponents were out of ideas and warned them against dirty campaigns with baseless claims.
“I would like to state that Amos Otieno is peddling propaganda in regard to OdiBet football kits that were donated to FKF Nairobi East branch early in the year for the teams taking part in the County leagues,” Onyango said.
He added: “ The branch received 50 kits which were all given to 50 different teams.
The kit sponsors had pledged kits for 80 teams but only issued 50 and we are still waiting for the remaining 30 sets of kits.
So we are requesting the teams that are yet to receive the uniforms to get in touch with our Secretary Dickson Doyo over the same.”
Onyango said his opponents had panicked and vowed to floor them at the ballot where the clubs officials will make their decision.
“We will continue to work closely with OdiBet as our FKF County leagues partners for the development of football at the grass root level,” he said.
