The hearing of Sh588 million graft case against former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu failed to kick off on Monday after testing positive for Covid-19.

Trial magistrate Thomas Nzioki adjourned the matter until October 26, 27, 28 and 29 after Waititu’s Lawyer John Swaka applied for adjournment, saying he was not present in court because he tested positive and needs time to recover.

Prosecutors Nicholas Mutuku and Victor Mule did not oppose since Swaka produced documents showing waititu tested positive.

The prosecution has, however, said they had lined up four witnesses to testify in the case.

All the other accused including his wife Susan Wairimu were present in court.
