The homicide department of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is investigating the circumstances under which gospel artiste Ruth Matete’s husband John Apewajowe died.

This week, the Msaada Wangu singer was grilled at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road, where sleuths questioned her over an alleged gas explosion incident in their Athi River home on March 30, 2020, that later allegedly claimed John’s life.

This was the second time she was been grilled by the investigators, the first being on April 16 at the Athi River DCI headquarters.

According to her lawyer Robert Odanga, the postmortem on John’s body was set for yesterday.

“Homicide has taken over the matter and that’s what we wanted. We want the investigations to end soon, which will be a great relief to the family. The postmortem will be done on Thursday.

Ruth is not well, but she’s coping. She has recorded all her statements with the DCI and everything is going alright,” he told Spice on Wednesday.
