Police recover motorcycles in sting operation
Police on Monday launched an intelligence-led operation in Kajiado North Sub county together with boda boda operators and managed to recover six motorcycles suspected to have been stolen from members of the public.
The operation that followed a report of a stolen motorcycle made on Sunday at Oloolua police station also led to the arrest of three suspects.
“Two motorcycles were recovered at Embulbul area after a tracker led the team where one suspect was found trying to dismantle them.
The suspects upon interrogation led the police officers to Mukuru Kwa Reuben area in Nairobi county where three more motorcycles were recovered,” police said.
The suspects have been identified as Owen Ayora 20 a resident of Kerarabon; John Omariba 23, also a resident of Kerarapon, and Brian Kirianga Opama 20, from Mukuru Kwa Reuben.
The suspects have been booked in police custody pending identification of the motorbikes by the owners and further police action. “Three of the recovered motorcycles have already been positively identified by the owners,” police said.
The Boda-boda Association of Kenya (BAK) Chairperson Kevin Mubadi has revealed that criminals posing as passengers were robbing the riders of the motorcycles.
