Former Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio has claimed that the best president Kenya will ever produce will come from a small community.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, during a televised interview with K24 TV, the former West Pokot senator gave some of the reasons he thinks a Head of State from a minority community might turn out to be the best leader Kenya never had.
According to Poghisio, the economy will be more stable if the country is run by someone from a minority community.
He argues that people from minority communities are more appreciative, and that they don’t have entitlement.
Poghisio argues that those from small communities also have no capacity to be corrupt.
“The best president Kenyan never had will be from a small community. If Kenya was given a president from smaller communities, the economy will be more stable, there is no way they can run the country down. They are more appreciative, they don’t have entitlement. I’m just advising people, if you ever decide to select a president who will stabilize this country, go to the small communities. Get a pokot, Turkana, Somali, from coast etc. Those guys have no capacity even to be corrupt,” Poghisio stated.
Zero nepotism
The former ICT minister went ahead to state that a president from the minority communities will balance the country, since they will have no people from their communities to fill in government positions.
“I was in Cabinet as a minority. If you look at it, if you are from a minority community, even if you wanted to fill the whole ministry with your people, you don’t have them. So if you are a president, you will actually balance the country,” he stated.
