Showdown looms ahead of school reopening
Tension is simmering ahead of the reopening of public and private schools tomorrow August 26, 2024, after teachers vowed to proceed with their planned strike.
The Monday strike is also set to enjoin public service vehicle operators who lament the increase of the Road Maintenance Levy from Ksh18 to Ksh25, harassment by police officers and delayed compensation by insurance firms among other issues.
The situation leaves parents and guardians in limbo even as the state has yet to solve the deadlock.
Sunday blackout to hit 4 counties
Kenya Power has announced a blackout scheduled for Sunday, August 25, 2024, which will affect several areas across four counties.
The utility company stated that the outage is necessary to facilitate routine network maintenance.
In Nairobi County, the power outage will impact parts of Babadogo. The affected areas include Roy Transporters, Kenafric Confectionary Factory, Kenafric Sweet Factory, LG Harries, Unicorn, Babadogo Secondary School, Trade Setters Industries, Babadogo Business Park, Kenafric Business Park, Babadogo Laundry Village, Babadogo Mosque, Sai Raj, Riverside Estate, Kariadudu, and adjacent customers. The blackout in these areas is expected to last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Other counties that will be affected by the blackout today include, Kisumu, Kisii and Lamu.
