Reactions to Ruto’s broad-based govt
After an unprecedented dissolution of his cabinet and the formation of a broad-based government to include some of his former rivals, President William Ruto faces an uphill task of popularising his new line-up to the UDA political class.
Mixed reactions are expected to continue to emerge even as the president hopes to nudge the country he saved from the precipice of anarchy after weeks of violent protests which led to the death of scores with hundreds more injured.
In his defence, Ruto maintains that the only way to attain lasting peace in the country is to unite with the various stakeholders despite their past political affiliations.
Confusion in university funding model
As the opening dates approach, parents, guardians and students remain in limbo over their attempt at tertiary education after President Ruto revoked all the admission letters previously mailed to learners.
Ruto indicated that the costs indicated in the letters confused many parents and guardians about the exact amount of school fees to be paid, and he ordered that the letters be resent afresh with the right figures.
The government is in a race against time to ensure learning takes place as scheduled even as the new funding model is spruced up and demystified.
