Ruto’s Day 2 Kisii, Nyamira tour
President William Ruto is expected to launch several projects in his day two development tour in the counties of Kisii and Nyamira.
On Monday, August 12, 2024, Ruto, during his first-day tour launched the Nyang’eni Village Electrification Project in Nyaribari Chache, connecting 101 homes with electricity across Kisii County under the Last Mile Project.
The Head of State also announced the establishment of a university in Nyamira County at Kiabonyoru.
He also laid the foundation stone for the Kiabonyoru Secondary School Dormitory, North Mugirango and the construction of Kenyerere DOK Primary and Junior School tuition block, Kitutu Masaba both in Nyamira County.
Ruto’s development tour comes days after the formation of a broad-based government which aims at uniting Kenyans.
During a joint session of Cabinet and Principal Secretaries at State House Nairobi on Monday, August 12, 2024, Ruto urged those appointed in the broad-based cabinet to implement programmes and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans.
“We have formed a broad-based government to unite the country and rally all Kenyans behind the country’s transformation journey. I call on those selected to serve in the cabinet to focus on the implementation of programmes and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans and move the country forward. Let us not waste this golden opportunity,” Ruto said.
Power outage
Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity disruption affecting seven counties on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
According to the company, the scheduled power blackout is due to the routine network maintenance of the power line.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (13th August 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power said.
Counties with areas that will be affected by the planned power interruption include Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu, Bungoma, Nyeri, Homa Bay and Mombasa.
The outage which will paralyze power businesses will be experienced at different times starting from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
