Clergy calls on legislators to heed to call of their voters

Church leaders in Kisii County have appealed to Members of Parliament to throw away the controversial Finance Bill 2024 rejected by President William Ruto, start a fresh and involve members of the public before they debate and pass it.

County Clergy Forum chairman, Bishop Lawrence Nyanuga said the Bill had led to protests, injuries and deaths which, he noted were unnecessary and unacceptable.

He challenged Members of Parliament who voted for, opposed and those who abstained to work together to ensure that they heed to the concerns of the public and address them.

“ We do not want youth and police to suffer due to violence and to shed blood. I urge Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio la umoja leaders to give the interest of Kenyans a priority” Nyanuga queried after a meeting of pastors at Gospel Embassy chapel in Kisii town.

Pastor Morwabe, who heads the chapel said Kenyans are against the bill, the high cost of living and implored the president and members of parliament to address it to ease their suffering.
