Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba believes that more women coaches embracing training will propel the country’s women’s clubs to continental stardom.
Speaking during the graduation of CAF A licensed coaches at the Institute of Special Education, Odemba highlighted the impact of the training on her team as positive. She also urged more women coaches to undergo the training.

“As a club coach, you can easily tell, I have learned a lot and it’s impacting the team and we are doing well.
“I’m glad that we also had women premier league coaches in the course which means 3 or 4 teams are doing well, other coaches have done their (CAF) B licenses while others have done C, so slowly if we embrace these licenses and learn as women teams’ coaches, shortly we are going to hit the headlines in the champions league,” Odemba commented after the ceremony.
The graduation ceremony marked the end of a six-month training program that kicked off on October 16, 2023, all through to April 12, 2024.
18 coaches out of the 25 who enrolled successfully met the criteria for the awarding of the licenses while five failed to make the pass mark.
Two more coaches were not awarded the license after failing to meet the required class attendance quota.
The coaches who did not get their licensing will be allowed a six-month grace period to complete assignments and other practical sessions while they await retakes of their final exams.
The training, led by Salim Ali and Francis Kimanzi covered key areas such as Match Analysis, Session Management, Performance Improvement, Meeting Players’ Needs, and Communication.
The modules also further delved into essential topics including physiology, anatomy, laws of the game, doping, leadership, and management.
This extensive training ensured that the coaches were well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, FKF President Nick Mwendwa underscored the significance of this achievement.
“As a Federation, we remain committed to the development of football at all levels. Our investment in the capacity building of coaches across all levels is not just a milestone; it’s a testament to our dedication to the growth and success of Kenyan football,” Mwendwa said.
