After completing his transfer paperwork, Oguta is likely to make his Tusker FC debut in the upcoming FKF Cup match against Kakamega Homeboyz.
Oguta expressed his excitement about joining Tusker, highlighting the club’s stature and the opportunity it presents for his development.
“When I was in school, my coach always encouraged me to work hard, train well and doors will open for me. I am delighted to be here at Tusker because this is a big club. I am happy to get this chance and I will give 100 percent. It is a good opportunity and one that I really need in my career,” Oguta said, in his first interview with the club.
Having been welcomed warmly by his new teammates during his month and a half of training at Ruaraka, Oguta feels settled and motivated to perform. He credits the supportive environment for his quick adaptation and improvement.
“My teammates have not put me under pressure. I have trained well and they have welcomed me really well. Everyone has been helping me with advice and encouraging me. The coach has also done well to help me settle in and his coaching is also great. Looking at myself now and compared to when I came, I have really improved and there is progress,” he added.
Despite the tough competition for playing time, Oguta is determined to earn his spot in the starting lineup.
“I am new and still learning so of course it will not be easy to directly get into the team, but soon I will be there. I am fighting everyday in training to get to that level that the rest are in. Seeing how I am training and the progress I am making, I know I will be there,” he pointed out.
Success at Tusker
Oguta acknowledges the pressure to succeed, especially considering the expectations from his hometown. However, he remains focused on showcasing his abilities and making his supporters proud.
“I have to push myself to work hard especially looking at where I am coming from and the expectation from people at home. All eyes are on me and I don’t want to disappoint them. I have to show my capabilities,” the midfielder concluded.
