AU Assembly
The 37th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly (Heads of State and Government Session) begins today February 17, 2024, to February 18, 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
President William Ruto arrived in Ethiopia on Friday ahead of the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government.
He attended the African Union’s Peace and Security Council Mini-Summit on the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo at the AU Headquarters and a high-level event on Climate Finance for Agriculture and Food Security.
Today, Ruto is expected to attend AU’s Assembly.
The Assembly is the AU’s supreme policy and decision-making organ. It comprises all Member State Heads of State and Government. The Assembly determines the AU’s policies, establishes its priorities, adopts its annual programme and monitors the implementation of its policies and decisions.
The theme of the Summit is ‘Building resilient education systems for Africa’s 21st-century human capital’.
FKF Womens Cup
The FKF Women’s Cup preliminary round is scheduled to begin today featuring six matches over the weekend.
Saturday’s lineup includes a doubleheader at Ruaraka Grounds, with NYS Queens facing off against Nakuru City Queens in the early match.
Nairobi Starlets will take on Royal Starlets at noon. The final match of the day will see Milima Queens playing against Gaspo Women at Maliki Boys High School at 1:00 p.m.
Kenya Airways
National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) on Thursday, February 15, 2024, officially resumed flights to Mogadishu, Somalia after a four-year break.
Today, two more KQ flights will travel between Nairobi and Mogadishu.
Flights by the national carrier to and from Mogadishu are scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
KQ said the Wednesday and Saturday flights would leave Nairobi at 14:00 and arrive in Mogadishu at 15:45, with flight number KQ362, while flight number KQ363 would leave Mogadishu at 16:35 and arrive in Nairobi at 18:20.
Kenya Airways suspended flights to Somalia in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The flight resumption to Somalia is part of KQ’s network expansion strategy and commitment aimed at enhancing connectivity across the African continent to contribute to long-term economic progress.
