Eliud Kipchoge confirms next race ahead of 2024 Olympics
Marathon great Eliud Kipchoge has revealed he will participate in the Tokyo Marathon on March 3, 2024, as part of the buildup to the Paris Olympics.
Returning to Tokyo, where he spectacularly clinched victory, Kipchoge aims to harness the positive memories and challenges encountered during the Tokyo Olympics.

In his triumphant Tokyo Marathon run, Kipchoge secured first place with a remarkable time of 2:02:40, establishing both the fourth-fastest time in history and a new competition record.
Reflecting on the 2021 Tokyo, Kipchoge expressed gratitude to the organizers for putting up an event during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I have good memories in Japan. I won my Olympic gold medal there and ran the course record in the Tokyo marathon. Last time, I was grateful for the organization to organize the event during such a difficult time during the Covid-19 pandemic. My aim was to set the course record and it was great to achieve that. I feel good working towards my next race in Tokyo,” Kipchoge said in an interview with Citius Mag.
As one of the greatest marathon runners globally, Kipchoge‘s illustrious career includes being the 2016 and 2020 Olympic marathon champion and holding the world record in the marathon with a time of 2:01:09 set at the 2022 Berlin Marathon.
Despite his record being surpassed in 2023, Kipchoge remains a dominant force in the marathon world, having claimed victories in prestigious races like the Chicago Marathon and London Marathon.

Looking forward to the Paris Olympics, Kipchoge sees the Tokyo Marathon as the perfect preparation to secure his third consecutive Olympic title.
“For me, it is the perfect preparation towards my aim to win my third consecutive Olympic title next summer in Paris,” he added.
His enduring legacy in both track and road running, coupled with his historic sub-two-hour marathon achievement in Vienna in 2019, solidifies Kipchoge’s status as an athletics icon and a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes worldwide.
