After 15 rounds of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL), Gor Mahia’s striker Benson Omalla has maintained his position at the top of the Golden Boot race.

Despite not scoring in last weekend’s matches, Omalla, who finished second in the Golden Boot race during the 2022/23 season when Gor Mahia won the league, continues to lead the charts this season.

Omalla has netted nine goals, and his closest challengers, with six goals each, include fellow Kenyan international Moses Shummah of Kakamega Homeboyz, Boniface Muchiri of Ulinzi Stars, Vincent Muchiri of Nairobi City Stars, and Francis Kahiro of KCB all with six goals.

Three players have scored five goals each this season: Brian Yakhama of AFC Leopards, Murang’a Seal’s Batts Awita, and Derrick Nsibambi of Bandari.

In the recent FKF PL matches, Gor Mahia maintained their unbeaten record, securing their ninth clean sheet in 15 matches and scoring their 19th and 20th goals of the season in their eighth victory. As 20-time FKF PL champions, they are the only unbeaten team in the league, holding a four-point lead with a total of 31 points.

KCB FC, led by Bernard Mwalala, sit in the second position on the log with 27 points, following seven wins, six draws, and two losses. Their 2-1 victory over Kenya Police helped them bounce back to the winning column after consecutive draws.

Despite having 27 points, Kakamega Homeboyz dropped to the third position after losing to AFC Leopards at Nyayo. This defeat marked the end of Kakamega Homeboyz’s five-match winning streak and their first loss since October 29, also breaking their run of five consecutive clean sheets.

Posta Rangers, after suffering their third loss of the season, slipped to the fourth position with 26 points, while Bandari’s eighth win elevated them to the fifth position, also with 26 points.
