Legislators summon Machogu
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu is expected to appear before MPs today to shed light on the discrepancies witnessed in the just released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
Also expected to appear before the MPs who sit in the departmental committee on Education chaired by Tinderet Julius Melly is the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) chief Executive Officer, David Njengere.
Speaking yesterday, Melly said they need the said officials to explain what happened during this year’s KCPE examination.
He said that the committee wants to establish why some schools had the same marks and why for others the marks are missing.
Shed light
He said: “We have told the CS and KNEC officials to appear before us to shed light on this matter. We need to know what happened.”
Melly said that the situation right now is worse off than last year when similar issues emerged.
He said it is unfortunate that despite the committee investigating the malpractices in exams the same has re-occurred.
He added, “This KCPE issue is an issue that has taken us a back. We as the education committee inquired about this matter and we are now seeing the situation has been made worse and that is why we want these people here.”
