Shabana FC, following their recent decision to part ways with head coach Sammy Okoth, have implemented more changes in their leadership structure.

The club has appointing interim captains to guide the team through the transition period.

Shabana interim

George Orako Onyango has been named as the new interim captain, while Justine Omwando Maasai takes on the role of the first assistant captain, and Rodgers Aloro is designated as the second assistant captain.

This decision represents a significant shift in the club’s leadership, as it follows the removal of the former captain, Bernard Otieno, and his assistant, Peter Ogechi, from their leadership positions.

The change in captaincy comes at a challenging time for Shabana FC, who have been struggling with a series of poor results.

The team’s performance led to the decision to part ways with coach Sammy Okoth, who had previously guided them to a National Super League win and FKF Promotion. However, the club experienced difficulties in the top tier, managing only one win.

Shabana bid farewell

Shabana FC have bid farewell to their goalkeeper trainer, Collins Oduor, as part of their efforts to revamp the technical bench and improve team performance.

As the Kisii-based club currently finds itself second from the bottom of the 18-team table, with seven points from 10 matches, the new interim leadership, under George Orako Onyango, will face the daunting task of turning the team’s fortunes around.

Shabana FC have registered one win, suffered five losses, and earned shared points in their last four games.

Okoth’s departure had been foreshadowed by the team’s 4-0 defeat, their heaviest of the season, at the hands of Ulinzi Stars. With Okoth’s exit, the club is now exploring options to appoint a new head coach who can steer them towards improved performance in the FKF Premier League.

Several candidates are available on the market, including Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo, a former head coach of Gor Mahia and KCB. Frank Ouna, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, who has also coached at KCB and Gor Mahia, and former Police head coach Francis Baraza are among the free agents under consideration for the position.
