The Football Kenya Federation Premier League first round is fast-gathering speed, and week 10 actions have been revealed, with mouthwatering matches set to highlight the weekend.

Gor Mahia, who are now a point below Posta Rangers, will face Kenya Police at Kasarani Stadium on November 5, while AFC Leopards have a date against Nairobi City Stars on Saturday. Both games are set to be broadcast live.

Meanwhile, a 1-0 win over Shabana was a crucial result for K’Ogalo, who have now closed in on Rangers, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Kakamega Homeboyz on Thursday at Bukhungu Stadium.

Rangers, who have lost just one match, are at 20 points, while Gor Mahia, the only unbeaten side in the Premier League, are second with 19.

The reigning Premier League champions have a chance to equal or even overtake Rangers should they beat the Police and hope the league leaders draw or lose their game.

Police have slid out of the top half and are now 12th on the log after an inconsistent run, and the game against in-form Gor Mahia has come at a tricky time for them.

With the kind of signings they made – Kenneth Muguna and Tyson Otieno were notable additions – soccer fanatics expected the Police to be a competitive outfit, but so far that is not the case.

Against Gor Mahia, they will face a solid side that has only conceded four goals and has scored 12. The attacking firepower of Gor Mahia is led by Benson Omala, the leading scorer in the league, and that points to another challenge Police must deal with.

Coach Zdravko Logarusic, who was brought to steady the boat after initial turbulence, is hoping to lead his side against his former team and probably inflict a first loss on Gor Mahia.

Although Police are lethal upfront  – they have scored nine, their work rate in front of the goal is undone by a leaky backline that has conceded 11, and coming up against a striking force of Gor Mahia’s caliber means they have to be super solid at the back.

AFC Leopards vs City Stars

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards have moved out of the relegation zone, and their next opponent are Nairobi City Stars. While Ingwe managed a point from their match against Kariobangi Sharks, Simba wa Nairobi were beaten by Murang’a Seal.

Coach Tomas Trucha and his charges are hoping to register another victory that will take them inches from the top half, while City Stars will hope to win and prevent sliding down toward the danger zone.

In other games, Nzoia Sugar will host Kariobangi Sharks at Sudi Stadium, while Sofapaka – who managed a second win of the season after beating KCB – will face Talanta at Machakos Stadium.

Struggling Shabana will be at Mbaraki Stadium as Seal welcome Tusker, who were beaten by Ulinzi Stars. The Soldiers will have a duty against Bidco United, one of the lethal sides in the competition, at Ulinzi Complex as Rangers and KCB clash at Kasarani Annex.

Kakamega Homeboyz will play Muhoroni Youth.
