Ruto vows to rid impunity in ownership of city land
President William Ruto has warned that he will not allow impunity to reign in land ownership and all Kenyans must play by the rules.
Ruto made the remarks as he hinted that the Government is willing to accept regularisation on some of the major land issues.
The President cited Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) land that was irregularly hived off saying the Government will undertake valuation and those caught up will be required to pay the market price and allowed to continue with their lives.
“For the land that is in this institution, I am told that some people have built flats around here on land that does not belong to them. We are going to agree with them so that they can pay the market value,” said Ruto yesterday when he flagged off vehicles for education officials at KISE.
“We do not have a problem with them but we will do valuation, they should pay us and they can continue with their lives. Ama kama sivyo, mambo tu ni yale,” he added.
Ruto stated that the money acquired from this process will be used for constructing an assistive devices factory for learners with special needs. He warned the Government will not tolerate impunity and all those in land buying business must toe the line.
“We have challenges of land all over the country and we must get rid of impunity. We cannot allow impunity in Kenya, we all must play by the rules. We are all equal before the law and so people who are willing to negotiate should negotiate and have a settlement.
