MPs to begin vetting envoys tomorrow
MPs are from tomorrow expected to vet the 27 individuals nominated for positions of Ambassadors and High Commissioners by President William Ruto.

The approval hearing set to be conducted by the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations chaired by Belgut MP Nelson Koech (pictured) will take seven days and will conclude on November 2.
Reads an advertisements placed in local dailies: “ It is notified to the general public that pursuant to the provisions of Article 118(1)(b) of the Constitution and section 6[4] of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval] Act (No. 33 of 2011), the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence & Foreign Relations shall conduct Approval Hearings (Vetting) of the nominees from 25th October 2023 to 2nd November 2023 in the Mini-Chamber, County Hall, Parliament Buildings starting from 9.00 a.m.”
The vetting exercise comes after Clerk of the National Assembly, Samuel Njoroge asked members of the public to submit their reservations, by way of written statements on oath (affidavits), with supporting evidence to be received by his office by yesterday.
