Kakamega Homeboyz held by FC Talanta in 6-goal thriller
Kakamega Homeboyz played to an exhilarating 3-3 draw against FC Talanta in a thrilling FKF Premier League encounter held at Bukhungu Stadium on a Friday afternoon.
Both teams had experienced a mixed bag of results in their previous five matches. Homeboyz had secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory during their lengthy trip to the coast, while FC Talanta had settled for draws in their recent league outings.
Kakamega Homeboyz goals
Kakamega Homeboyz wasted no time asserting their dominance, finding the back of the net within the first 16 minutes.
Brian Eshihanda capitalized on Kevin Amwayi’s delivery to open the scoring for Homeboyz.
Their lead was further extended 13 minutes later when Davis Kasirye rose above FC Talanta’s goalkeeper to head the ball home, courtesy of Eston Esiye’s delivery.
Despite Homeboyz appearing in control, the momentum shifted just before halftime. FC Talanta initiated their comeback, with Lucas Waitere finding the target in the 38th minute.
Kakamega Homeboyz concede before HT
The teams entered halftime deadlocked at 2-2 after Erick Ombija netted a crucial goal in the 42nd minute.
In the second half, Kenyan International Moses Shummah, who came on as a substitute, scored the goal that momentarily restored Homeboyz’s lead in the 57th minute.
Homeboyz seemed poised to secure all three points, but FC Talanta had other plans. Ombija struck again in the 82nd minute, ensuring the match ended in an enthralling 3-3 draw.
This result leaves Kakamega Homeboyz in seventh place on the league table with eight points from six matches, having scored seven goals and conceded eight.
Meanwhile, FC Talanta occupy the tenth spot with seven points from six matches, tallying six goals and conceding seven in the process.
