Kenya Lionesses squad for Africa 7s revealed
Kenya Lionesses’ head coach, Dennis Mwanja, has officially announced the squad that will represent Kenya in the upcoming Africa Women’s 7s tournament, set to be held in Tunis, Tunisia.
This tournament also serves as the qualification pathway for the 2023 Paris Olympics.

The team will be led by Captain Grace Okulo, who brings her experience from playing with the Nagato Blue Angles in Japan.
Notably, the squad includes Janet Okello, a speedster from the Japanese side MIE Pearls Women’s Rugby Football Club, and Christabel Lindo.
Other Olympians such as Stellah Wafula and Cynthia Atieno are also part of the squad.
The roster includes Sharon Auma, Phoebe Akinyi, Judith Okumu, Diana Awino, Terry Ayesa, Naomi Amuguni, Maureen Muritu, and Dorcas Nyachio.
Kenya Lionesses to double up
The Kenya Rugby Union has confirmed that a portion of this talented group will transition to the 15s team in Dubai for the WXV3 tournament, scheduled from October 13 to 28.
The players who will make this journey to the UAE are Phoebe Akinyi, Judith Okumu, Grace Adhiambo, Terry Ayesa, and Sharon Auma.
In the Africa Women’s 7s tournament, Kenya Lionesses find themselves in a competitive Pool B alongside 2022 silver medalists Madagascar, Zambia, and Ghana. Pool A consists of South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
The Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Cup returns to Tunisia for the third consecutive time, with a single ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics at stake.
Much like their male counterparts, Kenya 7s, Kenya Lionesses are determined to secure their third consecutive Olympic qualification.
