Ruto’s Western Kenya tour

President William Ruto’s five-day tour of the Western region ends today.

Ruto on Saturday marked his first day in the Western Kenya region.

His tour has seen him launch and inspect various projects as well as meet grassroots leaders.

The president is set to launch more development projects today as he winds up his tour of the region.

KDF recruitment

The nationwide recruitment by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) continues across the country.

The kick-off exercise was officiated by Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lt-Gen Jonah Mwangi on Monday, August 29.

KDF is seeking recruits for officer cadets, recruits, and Defense Forces Constables categories.

The ongoing exercise has already been marred with cases of bribery.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday arrested two civilians in Magarini Sub-County who had solicited and received Ksh250,000 to facilitate recruitment to KDF.

The two are said to have pretended that they could facilitate the complainant’s recruitment and admission to KDF “without any hustle” of going through the recruitment procedures.

Police uniform

The National Police Service (NPS) unveiled a new design for its officers and called for the public to participate in its selection.

Today members of the public are invited to visit Ruring’u Police Training College to view the design and give their suggestions before the final choice is made.

The new design is expected to replace the current blue, which was introduced in 2018 when Fred Matiang’i was in charge of the Interior and National Administration docket.

The viewing exercise commenced yesterday at the Kenya Police Pavilion, South C, Nairobi and will end on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the National Police College-Main Campus Kiganjo.
