KIAMBU: As a way of promoting unity and social cohesion in the community, churches from different denominations at Igegania village in Gatundu North have begun various sporting activities in a move that further seeks to strengthen their bonds.

The idea that was birthed by elders from AIPCA Karure and St Mary Igegania Catholic churches in the village as a way of reaching out to the community has been bringing soccer, volleyball and netball players together.

According to Karure location Senior Chief Simon Waweru who is also a senior men player for the AIPCA side, the sporting activities have been attracting hundreds of villagers including youngsters who would otherwise be engaging in immorality and drug abuse.
