CS Murkomen clashes with Kabando over firing of KAA boss Gitari
Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen and former Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando wa Kabando clashed over the sacking of Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director Alex Gitari.
Gitari was fired by CS Murkomen on Saturday, August 26, 2023, over a power blackout that plunged travellers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) into darkness, paralysing activities.
At the time, Murkomen affirmed that the changes were made due to the continuous issues witnessed due to the management’s challenges and political interference which resulted in a demoralised and disorganised workforce.
“These changes take effect immediately,” Murkomen stated.
This seemed to have irked Kabando who called out President William Ruto’s administration accusing them of being ‘determined’ to kick out Gitari.
He also claimed that the President was biased since he did not fire CS Murkomen and his EEnergy counterpart Davis ChirChir.
“It was already in the books that Ruto’s UDA was craving to out KAA MD Alex Gitari. The excuse to sack him arrived last night. Rais won’t sack his men – CS Murkomen & CS Chirchir. Sacred cows uncocking whisky at KPLC, KAA. We need Ruto to succeed but he’s tribal, inept, chaotic,” Kabando wrote.
You are suffering from acute mtu yetu syndrome even where it is completely unnecessary. You don’t know me, I will deal with all the state departments and agencies under me professionally and I do not care about your tribe, I want results. Period! https://t.co/mWbdXdNIon

Shortly after the tweet, Murkomen was quick to weigh in on Kabando’s sentiments claiming that he was obsessed with the ‘mtu wetu’ syndrome.
The CS went on to clarify that he dealt with all employees professionally.
“You are suffering from acute mtu yetu syndrome even where it is completely unnecessary. You don’t know me, I will deal with all the state departments and agencies under me professionally and I do not care about your tribe, I want results. Period!” Murkomen wrote.
