Kenyan forward Lopaga scores on 2nd appearance at Brest
Kenyan forward Josphat Lopaga has hit the ground running at his new club, Dynamo Brest, where he recently signed.
Lopaga played a pivotal role in Dynamo Brest’s victory over Slavia in a Belarus league match on Sunday. He scored the only goal of the game, securing a 1-0 win for his team at Stadyen Junatsva.

The former AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers forward found the back of the net in the 21st minute, and Dynamo Brest held on to this slim lead to claim the victory. It was after he quickly reacted off a rebound after the Slavian keeper punched the ball back into play.
This win marked Dynamo Brest’s fifth victory of the season in 17 matches played in the Belarusian top tier. Lopaga made his debut for the club as a substitute in the 64th minute of the previous match, which ended in a 1-0 defeat last Saturday.
Lopaga’s move to Dynamo Brest was confirmed on Thursday, August 10, after he impressed the coaching staff during trials at the club. He joined Dynamo Brest from Dhofar.
Lopaga’s journey to professional football has been remarkable. Hailing from the volatile town of Baragoi, he spent his early years as a street child but was later rescued through the City Stadium Homeless Youth Rehabilitation program.
Lopaga’s early journey
His love for football led him to the Shy Football Academy and later to the Gor Mahia youth team. He continued his journey in the sport by joining Mount Kenya United and subsequently playing for Posta Rangers before finding his way to AFC Leopards.
Lopaga has also represented Kenya’s Under-23 team in the CECAFA Championship, showcasing his talent on an international stage.
Dynamo Brest is a prominent Belarusian professional football club based in Brest. In 2019, Dynamo clinched their first Belarusian Premier League title, marking a historic achievement for the club. Additionally, the team has won the Belarusian Cup in 2007, 2017, and 2018.
Since 1992, Dynamo Brest have been competing in the Belarusian Premier League, consistently displaying their top-tier status.
They had to use the name FC Brest in the 2012 season due to legal disputes related to the Dynamo brand name, which was resolved later that year.
In the 2017 season, Dynamo Brest boasted the highest average home league attendance in the league, with 5,689 spectators per match.
