Women in Construction Forum
Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen will today officially open the inaugural Women In Construction Forum 2023 at the Barabara Plaza Auditorium in Nairobi.
The event will begin at 8:30 am.
Performance contracts
Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza will today oversee the signing of the Ministry’s performance contracts for the financial year 2023/2024.
The event will be held at the Bomas of Kenya from 12:30 pm.
MOU
Immigration and Citizen Services PS Julius Bitok will today lead the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Digital Identity between the Interior and National Administration Ministry and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) at Villa Rosa Kempinski.
The Interior Ministry is partnering with UNDP in designing and implementing the National Digital Identity Program.
The event will begin at 9:00 am.
Tobacco Control Laws
Kenya’s health promotion advocates will today discuss threats to the country’s Tobacco Control Act and its regulations at an event that will be held at Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi CBD from 9 am.
The discussion that will take place today follows last week’s announcement by Trade CS Moses Kuria and tobacco companies of plans to repeal and water down Kenya’s tobacco control laws.
Health advocates fear the move will also irreparably affect the WHO and FAO Tobacco Free Farms initiative in Migori where more than 1,000 tobacco farmers have been introduced to alternative crops.
Key speakers at the event include: Dr Catherine Karekezi from NCDs Alliance Kenya, Joel Gitali from the Kenya Tobacco Control Alliance, Samuel Ochieng from the Consumer Information Network, Celine Awuor from the International Institute for Legislative Affairs and John Thomi from the National Taxpayers Association.
Health Facility Census
The Ministry of Health will today launch the Health Facility Census – a groundbreaking initiative in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) that aims to assess and enhance health service delivery across the country.
The Health Facility Census is a pivotal step towards realizing the government’s vision of Universal Health Coverage as part of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. It aligns with the Constitution of Kenya, which underscores the right to the highest attainable standard of health, including access to quality healthcare services.
Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha will oversee the unveiling of the Health Facility Census at Afya House Ground.
