Chairperson of Council of Economic Advisors David Ndii has dared Azimio la Umoja -One Kenya coalition to overthrow the government if they can.

In a post shared via his Twitter account, the controversial economist insisted that the government will not do away with the recent economic changes such as additional taxes which have led to anti-government protests.

He also stated that those unsatisfied with the government policies should await 2027 elections or overthrow the government insisting that the government will not give way to the demands of the opposition.

“We are not budging. Overthrow the government if you are able, otherwise wait for elections,” he stated.

“We contested and won the election on a platform of upsetting the status quo. I would be very alarmed if the status quo was not upset. Bring it on.” he added.

Ndii was responding to a Twitter user who had noted that the civil disobedience witnessed during Wednesday’s protests should be an awakening moment for President William Ruto’s regime.

The Twitter user who identifies as a lawyer also called on the government’s economic advisors to intervene and advise him on a better strategy of reviving the economy without hurting Kenyans further.

“Yesterday’s civil disobedience across the country was a shocker to the country’s leadership including Raila Odinga. The people are tired. Economic advisors to the President, it’s time to show your worth. @DavidNdii #Tumechoka,” the user identified as Ochieng Wambai tweeted.

The latest comes amidst the opposition’s calls for mass protests against the current regime to voice concerns over the high cost of living, and additional taxes among others.
