Former PS in spouse assault case put on his defence
A Nairobi court has found former Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs Julius Korir with a case to answer in a case he is charged with assaulting his estranged wife Evelyn Koech.
Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego yesterday ruled that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused and put him on his defence.
“Having gone through the evidence on record, I find that the prosecution has established a prima facie case against the accused,” the magistrate ruled.
The court directed the case be mentioned on August 25 for defence hearing.
Previously, Korir’s had lawyer questioned the admission of a photocopy of a P3 form.
The magistrate said the document was authentic having been written and signed by a government doctor and produced in court.
The PS is charged that on September 17, 2020, at Ndalat Road, Karen, in Nairobi, he assaulted Koech and caused her bodily harm.
