Kenya celebrates mothers
Political and corporate leaders yesterday united in appreciating mothers for their effort in raising families as the world marked Mothers’ Day.
The leaders put aside their political differences to honour mothers for their unconditional love, support and the countless sacrifices as they commemorated the day yesterday.
Taking to their different social media groups, the leaders said mothers are special and deserve the best treatment for being the best role models.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said he celebrates all mothers for the sacrifices they make for the good of their families, society, and the nation.
“Today we honour and celebrate all mothers of our great nation. These selfless women have given us so much to be thankful for,” said Gachagua in a message posted in his official twitter account.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga wished mothers a happy Mother’s Day for their outstanding performance in raising their families.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all of the outstanding mothers out there! Your love, strength, and sacrifices shape generations. May your days be filled with blessings and happiness,” he said.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on his part described mothers as the epitome of unconditional love, care and sacrifice.
“Today we celebrate the backbone of our families and society, mothers. As we mark this special day, let us take a moment to appreciate the efforts of all the mothers who have played an instrumental role in shaping our lives. They are the first teachers, nurses, counsellors and providers in our lives. Let us celebrate their selflessness and dedication to their families. As a proud son of strong and loving mothers, I wish all mothers in Kenya and beyond a very happy mother’s day,” said Mudavadi.
Deserve the best
First Lady Rachel Ruto appreciated mothers for being the pillars of any society.
Said Rachel: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers in Kenya! You are the pillars of our society, the ones who nurture, inspire and empower us. Thank you for your love, sacrifice and wisdom. You deserve all the best today and always!”
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on the other hand described mothers as an incredible force that never gives up on their children; constantly teaching and guiding.
Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua celebrated mothers saying they sustain the world with their tenacity, sacrifices and love.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa said mothers remain the queens and super heroes of families.
“They are the epitome of sacrifice and the reason why the world remains a better place. Their contribution, dedication and compromise to better our lives in society is immeasurable,” she said.
Defence Cabinet Secretary Adan Duale said he honours Defence Cabinet secretary Aden Duale said he honours Mothers’ for their unconditional love, unwavering support and the countless sacrifices.
“Were it not for my mother, I would not have grown from the herds boy, strutting the dust and thistles of the North, into who I have become; the CS Defence. I am happy the story of my mother – as is of other mothers – is also the first of the thirty-two chapters of my book, ‘For the Record’. It is for her that I dedicate all the proceeds from the sale of my book to charity. My little way of giving back to the community; just like she taught me,” he said.
Labour Cabinet secretary Florence Bore said: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful women! Today we celebrate you for the work you put in yourself, your family, your work and your community.”
MPs Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town), Wanami Wamboka (Bumula), Mwangi Kiunjuri (Laikipia East),Winnie Odinga (East African Legislative Assembly) also took the opportunity to celebrate mothers for their commitment in raising families.
Ng’ang’a described mothers as God’s most wonderful treasures who represent love, comfort and encouragement.
Kiunjuri said mothers ought to be celebrated for the roles they play in every child, family’s and society’s wellness.
Winnie described mothers as the heart of the home as they lead the charge in bridging the tech skills learning gap for the youth of the East African Community.
Wamboka said mothers are the backbone of the society who ought to be celebrated on a daily basis.
Monumental challenges
“I find the backbone of a Mother to be the strongest, yet most pliable of them all; to bend over backward and still be a pillar, some call it magic. Happy Mother’s Day to the incredible Mothers of Bumula and Kenya. Your efforts and sacrifices are irreplaceable. Feel loved and valued,” he said.
Former governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Mike Sonko (Nairobi) also took time to appreciate mothers for their dedication and sacrifices in raising their families.
Said Joho: “Happy Mother’s Day to every mother who wakes up in the middle of the night to check whether the kids are okay. To every mother who strives to be the best version of herself even while battling monumental challenges.”
Separately, corporate entities including, Telkom, Airtel, Blue Band Kenya, Standard Chartered Bank and Kakuzi PLC also appreciated mothers for being the pillars of the society.
Telkom Kenya said the unwavering love, sacrifice, and endless support from mothers is unmatched.
“Thank you for being our biggest cheerleaders and confidants. Today, and every day, we celebrate you and all that you do,” said Telkom.
Blue Band Kenya in its message said: “A mother’s love is the secret ingredient that makes every meal special. Add Blue Band to the mix and taste your mama’s love in every bite.”
Standard Chartered said to celebrate the day they had asked seven of their senior leaders who sit on the Executive Committee to share what motherhood meant to them.
Kakuzi Plc in its message said: “Cheers to all the amazing moms out there! Today, and every day, we celebrate the love, sacrifice, and unwavering strength that you bring to our lives. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Kakuzi.”
