Kenya’s national Under-20 team, Chipu, were powerful enough to avenge a 24-13 loss to Namibia in their semi-final match held on Wednesday evening at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The win not only ensured the Curtis Olago-coached side won the fixture to book a final spot, but also it was a sweet revenge after Chipu lost 16-5 to Namibia during last year’s edition. In the first Semi-final tie, Barthes Cup defending champions Zimbabwe were on course to defend their title after they thrashed Tunisia 60-6 to book a date with home team Kenya at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Zimbabwe were superior and determined from the kick-off with a 22-6 lead heading to the intervals.
The defending champions went on to showcase their intent to defend their title with unforgiving rugby lessons to Tunisia to win the fixture 60-6.

In other fixtures, Junior Rugby Cranes of Uganda lost their fifth-place semifinal match 21-13 to Zambia.
Uganda, who had earlier lost 44-20 in the quarter-finals will now face-off against Madagascar in the ranking final while Zambia on the other hand will face Ivory Coast in the fifth-place final.

Ivory Coast on their part beat Madagascar in the first fifth-place semi-final 16-10 to book a date with Zambia.

The U20 Barthes Trophy will enter its final stage this Sunday, April 30.
